*Swirlydoos* The Ten Days of Winter - Day 1 - "Winter Wonderland"

Day One - Winter Wonderland

Aren't these twins adorable!  They are my coworker's 2 year old twins.  As you can see, they had a ball playing in the snow and plotting to throw snowballs at their father.  The January Swirlydoos kit features papers, stickers and rub-ons from Bo Bunny.

I used my Silhouette to cut the title "Winter Wonderland" which is pictured below.  I then sprayed it haphazardly with the Haunted Shadow glimmer mist.

The snowflakes are Bo Bunny stickers which I mounted on purple cardstock.  I then trimmed the cardstock in the shape of the snowflake.  The large snowflake in the background is from Creative Imaginations and was part of my inventory of madness.  I thought it would look great with the papers.

I drew two mountains to give the effect that the twins were playing in the snow. I lightly sprayed each mountain with glimmer mist.  One mountain is sprayed with Haunted Shadow and the other is sprayed with Moonlight. I also inked the edges with Broken China distress ink.

Winter 2009

Man, did we have a snow storm!  On Friday, Dec. 18th, the snow started to fall at 7pm and did not stop until 4pm on Saturday, Dec. 19th!  It was BEAUTIFUL!  Snow like this shuts down the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  Christmas shoppers lost a weekend as stores struggled to open and street crews struggled to clear the roads.  I, on the other hand, had a ball!  I scrapped all day on Saturday and Sunday.  Notice that I did not say I joined in the fun.  I was still fighting a cold, so I stayed inside close to my glue gun and paper cutter! lol.

My beautiful, handsome, wonderful husband set out to shovel the snow as it continued to fall.  My daughter, home from college, soon joined him.  They did a fantastic job.  As soon as they cleared a path....behold....

Chance, my 3 year old chi-poodle (Half Chihuahua, Half Poodle) joined in the fun.  I could tell his little paws were cold, but he had a ball trying to jump over the snow mounds while the snow covered his coat.  He looked so beautiful.

Tomorrow, I will begin posting the layouts I created featuring scenes from the storm.  I used the January Swirlydoos kit for all of the layouts.  This will mark my official debut as a design team member for them and I could not be happier.  I think you all will really like what I have put together for you.

I will post a new layout here each day and talk about any special techniques I used.

Hold on to your hats...it's going to be a snowy ride!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!  Whew, I have been very busy with the new Swirlydoos kit for January.  It will be my official debut as a new Design Team member.  I can hardly wait to show you all the beautiful papers and fun layouts I created.

This week I received a Silhouette.  I have been having loads of fun learning how to operate the machine.  There are so many beautiful designs available, it is hard to choose.

I went back and forth for months deciding whether to buy another cutting machine.  I have a Cricut, Slice, Sizzix and Revolution.  Did I really need another tool?  OF COURSE I DID! LOL!

I would love to hear from you all to see what tools you have and what is your favorite.

Let it Snow!

I scrapped this photo earlier in the year, but I had to bring it back! It is my favorite winter photo of my chi-poodle named Chance. He is sooooo observant and he loved looking at the snow fall. I am so glad we were able to capture this photo.

I typed my journaling using Word and printed it on laser printer transparency film.  I love the look!

The title is a beautiful vellum quote from Anna Griffin.  The parentheses are from the SEI Winter Song Collectiton.

I used Flower Soft to create the snow.  I watched the tutorials over and over and finally I ran to the store to purchase this amazing product.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Be back soon......

It's Electric! - Jenni Bowlin

No, we aren't doing the electric slide. lol.

I absolutely love this photo of my daughter with her electric guitar.  This photo was part of her graduation photo shoot!  That's right, I call it a photo shoot.  There were wardrobe changes, props, makeup...everything!  Kids had their pets, siblings and the kitchen sink in their photos.  When I was young we were lucky to have a drape and cap and gown photo taken.

Once we arrived for photos, we noticed someone had a dog with them.  I noticed that the sample photos had props, so I asked my daughter if she wanted her guitar.  We live 2 minutes away from the school, so I hopped in my car and jetted off to get the guitar.  I am so glad I did!

I used the wonderful Jenni Bowlin Red and Black Line, Ext II to create this page.  The colors grabbed my attention as I walked by them in my local scrapbook store.

This is a close up of the beading on the layout.  I purchased this beautiful strand from my local fabric store.  It works beautifully with the design of the Jenni Bowlin patterned papers.

The glittered Making Memories lettering was in the Christmas section, but I think it is perfect for this layout.

I used several textures on this layout but I made sure that one did not overpower the other.  I cut the butterfly from patterned paper.
