Just Us - Swirlydoos January Kit - Retro Tapestry
Here's wishing you a terrific week. I went to visit my cousin yesterday and she gave me a wonderful gift. The January Swirlydoos kit! How could I say no? lol. I love Swirlydoos and their kits are beautiful. This company holds a special place in my heart as I was proud to be a member of their outstanding design team in 2010.
This kit is bold and beautiful! I had just the right photo waiting for these glorious papers. The papers in the collection are from GCD Studios and Glitz Designs. If bright and bold is your cup of tea, you can pick up the Retro Tapestry Patterned Paper and Cardstock add-ons which are still available in the Swirlydoos store.
I distressed the edges of my papers and layered them to give dimension. I distressed the edges of my paper using my Tim Holtz Paper Distresser which is quick and easy. I inked my top layer using Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass.
I used Birdie Border - Artsy Urban by Melody Ross/GCD Studios for the embellishments beneath my photo. This gave a bit of glimmer as the papers are glittered. I cut the birds from the paper and mounted them on foam squares. I used my new Spellbinders "Parisian Accents" die to create the blue border. I topped it off with yellow textured trim which was included in the kit.
The beautiful flowers in the kit are from Petaloo and Prima. These two companies have outstanding flowers and are my "go to" when it comes to my designs. I finished my page by adding liquid pearls to the border of my photo.
When adding heavy florals to my pages, I use a stapler. One of my favorites is the Tim Hotlz Tiny Attacher. The size of the staples are perfect for attaching items to your pages without adding bulk.
