Altered Mini Rocker Tutorial

This is probably my favorite altered project to date!  I used the gorgeous "Gilded Lily" collection by Graphic 45 to altered this fabulous thrift store find.  On a recent trip to one of our local thrift stores, I found an old mini rocking chair that had definitely seen better days. I thought it would be fantastic to breathe new life into this piece.

Here is a photo of the chair before I got "a hold" of it! lol.

Here is a tutorial which shows the steps I took to transform the chair.

Check out How to Alter a Mini Rocking Chair by Robin Shakoor on Snapguide.

Once the chair pieces were dry, I added the patterned paper and re-assembled the chair. I was inspired by the beautiful colors of the collection to use a color palette of soft ivory, pink and blue.

I took the chair apart and traced the shape onto my “Gilded Lily” patterned papers.  I painted the chair a soft ivory color to coordinate with the color palette of the papers.

I began to build layers of cut images, flowers and lace.  To finish my design I added light blue liquid pearls to the outer edges of the chair.  This definitely proves that everything old can be new again.

Robin, I am a follower but I don't write comments very often. But now I simply have to, because I think your projects are all so beautiful and a great inspiration. This chair is awesome, I have never seen this before! Yesterday I used my Graphic 45 Secret Garden for making anew card. I am a fan!!
